Sirs, No matter how short space may become in the paper ( can't do photos of any organization not getting more than $10,000 as charitable gift), please keep Mike Bennett and his weekly football section. I look forward to his comments each week, in spite of his disdain for the "mighty" Detroit Lions!!

Newspaper Reply Mike's football column is most certainly entertaining every week. We plan to keep him.

The Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce has lost all touch with reality. Two of their "priority investment needs" are completely ridiculous. They want to see a "High-Speed Rail Link" going through Chatham-Kent. Now, what does Mr Denure think makes it so high-speed? Is it high-speed because it stops to pick-up passengers every ten minutes, perhaps in Tilbury, then Chatham, and then Kent Bridge, and then Thamesville? NO! It is high-speed because it DOESN'T STOP!!! This train, should it ever exist, will stop in Windsor, London, and Toronto. It will only see Chatham-Kent as a green blur as it flies by at 300km/h. The only direct contact our citizens will have with it, will be their protests to Council about the noise, collisions, and general disruption it brings on. Mr Denure is living in a dream world if he honestly believes anything good will come of this locally. And second, the proposed Charing Cross Road / 401 interchange. Good Lord, will this never die? Chatham currently has an eastern approach and a western approach and they are only about five-minutes apart. We don't need a third! Why does Mr Denure insist Chatham will be a happier, safer place if hundreds of transport trucks are funneled onto Queen Street day and night? It's a stupid idea, it's an absolute waste of money, we don't need it, and we don't want it. I don't know where the Chamber of Commerce dreams-up these ideas but it's time they stopped going there.
